How it works:

• Add additional states and counties to see their forecasted yield as well - add as many additional locations as you like.
• See the community’s opinion and share your own thoughts through polls and comments.
• Forecasts are updated weekly - push notifications keep you up-to-date.
About the Descartes Labs Forecast
Our forecasts are fully automated. Throughout the growing season, we forecast yields for every state and all significant corn-producing counties in the United States. And we do so with unprecedented accuracy.
We collect new data every day. A lot of it. Nearly 10 terabytes. This data consists of satellite imagery from multiple NASA, ESA, and commercial constellations. We also collect the latest weather readings and additional agronomically significant signals in realtime. To enable data collection and daily processing at this rate, we’ve developed our own hyper-scalable, machine-learning platform. Forecasting at this scale simply cannot be accomplished by sampling individual farms.
Last year, Descartes Labs forecasted US corn production on August 6, 2015. We came within 1.9% of the final USDA report, which only became available in January, 2016. This summer, Descartes Labs is going a step further and releasing weekly forecasts. Be sure to check in with us often!
